The Trinidad Scorpion Naga is the hottest chilli we grow in any numbers as the plants love our soil and conditions in Gloucestershire and we have bumper crops! Native to the district of Moruga in Trinidad and Tabago this chilli reached number one in the Guinness book of records 2012 for achieving 1.2 million on the scoville scale.
We love the sweet hot flavour this chilli gives so it provides a subtle taste difference to the ghost chilli. Be warned though the heat in this chilli starts of ok then builds and builds so if you over do the chilli in your food it may take you a while to finish your dish!
We use this chilli in our devils pleasure sauce along with ghost and Carolina Reapers because it builds giving a heat explosion that can last for 4 mins!
We slow dry our chillies to give them a distinctive smokey taste which adds lots of flavour and heat into any dish. Dried chillies will last several years and every kitchen should have some laying around!
How to use it
Grind it well and sprinkle into savoury or sweet food to give it a bit of a kick!
Delicious with chocolate, try a chilli hot chocolate!
