You do not need much to add heat to your dish using our Dried Ghost Chillies (Bhut Jolokia). Originating from North East India this chilli was the Guinness World Record holder as the hottest chilli in 2007 at 400 times hotter than Tabasco! The average rating of the ghost chilli is 1 million on the scoville scale.

Add ghost chilli to your dish to give a real depth of flavour and heat, we suggest you start with a smaller amount and build up your heat to suit. What we love about the ghost chilli is the deep warmth you get after eating your food, this means you get the flavours of your dish such as garlic, onion and other herbs and spices and then the deep warmth comes in.

Interesting fact:

The Indian army has developed a chilli grenade using the ghost chilli to help them flush out terrorists in caves and to control crowds! Personally we believe in love not war so prefer adding it to our bolognese sauce...

We slow dry our chillies to give them a distinctive smokey taste which adds lots of flavour and heat into any dish. Dried chillies will last several years and every kitchen should have some laying around!

How to use it:

  • Grind it well and sprinkle into savoury or sweet food to give it a kick!
  • Delicious with chocolate, try a chilli hot chocolate.
